Lawrence Medical Center Helping Conduct North Alabama Health Assessment

Tuesday, 09 October 2012

Like an annual physical examination, communities need to have an occasional check up on their overall health too. That’s why Lawrence Medical Center, along with the other affiliates of Huntsville Hospital Health System, are conducting a Community Health Assessment throughout north Alabama over the next several months. The assessment includes an online public survey, as well as feedback from physicians, and data from local, state, and national health agencies.

Interim CEO Dr. Bill Anderson said that the findings from the assessment can help communities establish health priorities and improvement strategies for the future. He said that a comprehensive report from the study will be released during the first quarter of 2013. County specific reports will be produced for a dozen north Alabama counties, including Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, and Jackson Counties.

“We want residents in our community and surrounding areas to go online and take the self assessment. The survey is completely anonymous,” said Dr. Anderson.
