Important Message Regarding Lawrence Medical Center

• The ER and Outpatient services, like Lab, Imaging, and Physical Therapy remain open. The community will receive advanced notice before any further changes.
• Please continue to support the dedicated staff at Lawrence Medical Center. They are front line healthcare workers and deserve everyone’s full support.
• LMC is partnering with the HH Health System to operate the current and future outpatient facilities, improving access to the care Lawrence County residents use most frequently.
• The financial crisis impacting rural hospitals makes continuing operations in the current facility unsustainable. The hospital operates at a significant loss and the main facility, built in 1953, is prohibitively expensive to maintain.
• Inpatient care has stopped at LMC. Sometime in 2025, LMC will close the emergency department. Resources being used today to maintain the old facility and avoid insolvency at the hospital will be used to construct a new outpatient care center.
• The HH Health System will work with community leaders to identify the best location for a new facility and support economic development in Lawrence County.
• Every single tax dollar supporting healthcare in Lawrence County stays in the County. If the new structure is financially successful, every single dollar of profit will be reinvested in the County.
